A very beautiful enameled ceramic wall plate, characteristic of the revival of decorative arts that accompanied French interiors of the 1950s and 1960s. With a diameter of nearly 28 cm, this piece has a remarkable presence. Its deep blue background, almost petrol blue depending on the light, hosts a generous stylized floral composition where large cream daisies, brownish-orange flowers, and tender green foliage intertwine. All around, a succession of ivory dots forms a graphic border that gives the decoration its balance and accentuates its decidedly decorative character. The design retains the freedom typical of post-war artisanal productions. The flowers do not aim for botanical realism but become shapes, colors, and rhythms. This way of treating flora fully aligns with the 1950s-1960s taste for more expressive ceramics, intended to take its place in interior decoration as much as to bear witness to the potter's hand. The craftsmanship also deserves attention. The reverse clearly reveals the wheel-thrown work and the clay material, left visible in the center, while a warm ocher-toned glaze covers the exterior. The wide annular foot features its original hanging mechanism, confirming the piece's intended use as a wall hanging from its inception. The enameled surface, shiny and rich in nuances, retains the small irregularities, the network of crazing, and the characteristic variations of old artisanal ceramics. A few small chips and signs of use are present on the rim. They bear witness to its age without detracting from its beautiful decorative power. Unsigned, this piece is presented as artisanal work from the mid-20th century without attribution to a particular workshop.
