This large glazed ceramic wall plate fully belongs to the colorful world of 1950s-1960s interior decoration, when potters reconnected with simple forms and generous designs, directly inspired by folk art. A remarkable deep blue background displays a floral basket rendered with great freedom. The ochre basket, simply outlined by an irregular grid, holds an abundance of cream and orange-brown flowers accompanied by long stems and light green foliage. Daisies, small corollas, and stylized flowers mingle without striving for realism, giving the whole that spontaneity which constitutes all the charm of post-war decorative ceramics. A frieze of large cream dots runs all around the edge. Far from being a mere frame, it fully contributes to the design and gives this floral composition a particularly graphic appearance. The material's workmanship remains very evident. The colors are captured under a glossy glaze whose variations, small irregularities, and crazing attest to artisanal craftsmanship. The reverse side reveals the clay and traces of its shaping, while a warm ochre glaze covers the outer rim. Its old hanging device, integrated directly into the foot, confirms its decorative purpose. This piece, approximately 28 cm in diameter, was designed to be placed on a wall and contribute to the home's decor, in the tradition of wall plates which experienced a true revival in the mid-20th century. Some nicks, small marks, and old wear are visible on the edge and surface. These are consistent with the age and artisanal character of the piece and do not alter the strength of its decoration in any way. Unsigned, this plate is preserved under its most accurate attribution, that of a mid-20th century artisanal work, without arbitrarily associating it with the name of a manufacturer.
