This large enameled ceramic wall plate fully belongs to the colorful world of 1950s-1960s interior decoration, when potters reconnected with simple forms and generous designs, directly inspired by folk art. Against a remarkable deep blue background, a floral basket unfolds, rendered with great freedom. The ochre basket, simply delineated by an irregular grid pattern, hosts a profusion of cream and brownish-orange flowers accompanied by long stems and tender green foliage. Daisies, small corollas, and stylized flowers mingle without striving for realism, giving the whole that spontaneity which is the charm of post-war decorative ceramics. A frieze of large cream dots runs around the entire rim. Far from being a mere frame, it fully participates in the design and gives this floral composition a particularly graphic appeal. The materiality of the piece remains very present. The colors are captured under a glossy glaze whose variations, small irregularities, and crazing attest to artisanal craftsmanship. The reverse side reveals the clay and traces of its shaping, while a warm ochre glaze adorns the outer rim. Its old hanging mechanism, arranged directly at the base, confirms its decorative purpose. This piece, approximately 28 cm in diameter, was designed to be placed on a wall and contribute to home decor, in the tradition of wall plates, which experienced a true revival in the mid-20th century. Some nibbles, small marks, and antique wear are visible on the rim and surface. They remain consistent with the age and artisanal character of the piece and in no way detract from the impact of its decoration. Unsigned, this plate is preserved under its most fitting attribution: that of a mid-20th century artisanal work, without arbitrarily associating it with the name of a manufacturer.
