In the 1950s, large serving pieces still held an essential place on French tables. The covered vegetable dish accompanied formal meals, kept dishes warm, and fully contributed to the elegance of the service. This large porcelain model belongs to that era when a useful object was also expected to beautify the table. Its generous silhouette stretches between two large handles and rests on a slightly raised oval base. The domed lid naturally extends the curves of the body before ending in a large arched finial. The ensemble offers a balanced composition, ample without being heavy, with that still very classic elegance characteristic of early 1950s tableware. Delicate bouquets of roses, rendered in several shades of blue, stand out against the white porcelain. The flowers are accompanied by foliage in greyish tones that add softness and depth to the decor. A few silver accents then catch the light on the handles, the lid's finial, and the edges, giving the piece a precious look without ever overloading the composition. This combination of white, blue, and silver perfectly reflects the taste of the 1950s. Large floral decors inherited from traditional services remain present, but the palette lightens, compositions feel airier, and the silver finishes bring that touch of modernity that accompanied the renewal of interiors at the time. With approximately 36 cm from handle to handle, 21 cm for the body, and 20 cm in height with its lid, this vegetable dish boasts very fine proportions. On a set table, it can naturally resume its primary function. On a buffet, a large console, or in a display cabinet, its silhouette and luminous blue rose decor are enough to make it a decorative piece in its own right. The reverse bears the marking MG Lorraine France, confirming its French origin. The decor, form, and finishes allow its creation to be dated to around 1950. The set is complete and preserved in excellent condition. The porcelain has retained its luster and its decor remains fully fresh, while the silver accents still elegantly accompany the lines of this grand tableware piece. A beautiful testament to Lorraine porcelain from the 1950s, when entertaining still meant bringing out the porcelain, truly setting the table, and giving serving dishes as much attention as to what they were going to contain.
