About the artist:
-------------------------------
Toni de Klerk is a Dutch Artist.
Born 1960 Alblasserdam
Toni de Klerk is a true outdoorsman. Even as a child he roamed the banks of the Merwede in search of pipe bowls, brood boxes and vomit balls. Exploring the wide surroundings by bike, ditch jumping or piking in the countless small ditches in the landscape.
Since the 1980s Toni de Klerk has lived and worked in Leidschendam close to the dunes, beach and sea. Even here the polders are still within walking distance. The coast fascinates but does not hold the same attraction for him as the polders with their own flora and fauna. Still he collects with great enthusiasm. A delicate skull, feathers, but also shards of an "old" jar or the colored remnants of a tile. As a rule, it doesn't matter much. At home, it waits patiently until it serves a purpose. Impressions from nature from past to present are combined with his finds in his etchings. About himself and his quests he therefore says: I am a landcomber.
