In Noiron-sous-Gevrey, Côte-d'Or, the Dubost family upheld a Burgundian pottery tradition rooted in earth and fire. Their utilitarian stoneware, fired at high temperatures in flame kilns, developed these dense, satin-like, dark brown, almost black hues, which time only deepens. This large pitcher is a beautiful example. Its silhouette is confident and elegant: a full and generous body, a narrow neck opening into a slightly pinched spout, and a solid, full handle. The line is simple, controlled, timeless. No superfluous decoration. Just the earth, the fire, the form. The time-mellowed satin surface reveals subtle reddish-brown reflections depending on the light. Under the base, the incised mark "Dubost – Noiron" attests to its origin and production period. At 25 cm in height, this is no small serving pitcher. It is a statement piece.
