With its generous silhouette and deep brown, this large pitcher possesses all the charm of mid-20th century French utilitarian pottery, from a time when everyday objects still managed to combine simplicity, robustness, and the beauty of their materials. Its widely rounded body rests on a small foot and rises to a narrower neck, topped by a generously shaped pouring spout. A large curved handle complements the silhouette and gives the piece a beautiful balance. The contrast between the glossy brown glaze on the exterior and the cream enamel on the interior brings a lot of warmth to the piece. A few turned lines subtly add texture to the belly and neck. Nothing ostentatious here, but a solid, almost rustic form, which draws all its strength precisely from this sobriety. Dating from the 1950s-1970s, this pitcher belongs to that generation of ceramics designed for daily use and which are now being rediscovered for their formidable decorative appeal. At approximately 20 cm in height, it doesn't go unnoticed. While it can naturally be restored to its function as a pitcher, it takes on a completely different charm with a generous bouquet of wildflowers, a few eucalyptus branches, or simply placed alone on a large wooden table. Very good general condition, with the slight irregularities and traces of time that accompany its history.
