Large Art Deco tray signed Germonde, made around 1930. A substantial hammered iron frame surrounds a decoration fixed under glass, supported by a wooden base. Germonde is part of the French decorative arts production of the interwar period, when everyday objects became true creations. Pieces bearing this signature readily combine decorated glass with elaborate metal frames. The thick and heavy iron structure is entirely enlivened by regular hammering. At the ends, the metal forms a succession of geometric projections, while the side handles soberly extend this highly structured architecture. Under the glass, tones of burnt orange, ochre, cream, brown, and sea green unfold. The colors meet in irregular movements, between transparencies and textural effects, in an almost abstract composition of astonishing modernity. The Germonde signature appears directly within the decoration. Light passes through the glass, accentuating the depths and making each shade evolve against the dark rigor of the iron. The frame retains an old patina, with some traces of oxidation and signs of wear consistent with the dating. Total length of approximately 53 cm, width of approximately 30 cm, and maximum height of approximately 6 cm.
