With its deep red set against ivory earthenware, this large deep dish from the Moulin des Loups factory possesses all the charm of French tables from the interwar period. The 'Thibault Rouge' pattern features a particularly graphic composition. A bouquet of stylized flowers occupies the center while a wide red frieze adorns the rim. The design, almost stencil-cut, bears witness to this period when French factories modernized traditional floral motifs under the influence of Art Deco. The piece bears on its reverse the stamp of the French factory Moulin des Loups in Orchies, as well as the name of the 'Thibault Rouge' pattern. Founded in Northern France, the Orchies earthenware factory is part of that great industrial and decorative history which introduced elegant and colorful tableware into French homes at the beginning of the 20th century. Its generous diameter of approximately 28 cm and its truly deep shape make it a beautiful serving dish. It can naturally find its place on a table, but its sufficiently distinctive graphic design also allows it to be imagined displayed in an old kitchen, on a dresser, or associated with a collection of French earthenware.
