Product description
Very beautiful large decorative enameled porcelain Plant pot, unsigned, French work, probably Paris porcelain. Antique from the late 19th century, Napoleon III circa 1870-1890.
Beautiful ample shape on a pedestal, with a deep gray background, adorned with a rich polychrome hand-painted and enameled relief decoration in the rocaille style: large flying bird, garlands of flowers, tied ribbons, foliage, rocaille motifs and gilded highlights. The decoration extends widely over the belly and contrasts particularly well with the gray background. Upper edge and foot highlighted with a wide gilded frieze.
18cm high for the body alone, 20.5cm total height with the base, 22cm diameter at the opening, approximately 23-24cm max diameter. Very good general condition considering its age. There are numerous small, more or less discreet enamel chips in the decor and also on the frieze where it is practically absent, more or less slight wear to the gilding in areas, some quite marked on the sides in particular, as well as on the foot. Also present is a star-shaped impact under the bottom and an X-shaped impact inside, on the lower part of one side. These defects remain invisible from the outside and are not weakening. The whole remains very harmonious, rare and particularly decorative. 2.160kg.
