An exceptional, commanding large-scale original vintage 1989 Postmodern abstract expressionist artwork print by the artist "Southern" (signed Souther on the front face). This striking piece was originally published and exhibited through the legendary Billy Hork Galleries in Chicago (USA). This piece perfectly encapsulates the radical, energetic spirit of the late-1980s American gallery scene. It features an intense, multi-layered composition of intersecting structural grid lines, dynamic paint splatters, and textured strokes layered over deep horizontal fields of lavender, lilac, solid black, vibrant teal-blue, and radiant neon-yellow panels. It beautifully cross-pollinates the chaotic energy of Drip Art with the bold color blocking of the Memphis Milano design era. The Provenance: Billy Hork Galleries (Chicago, 1972–2008) were famous for promoting bold, avant-garde contemporary artists. In 1989, the gallery ran a highly celebrated series featuring Southern's abstract expressionist works. This piece features the original minimalist white studio gallery framing and heavy-duty composite backing from that era, complete with its heavy steel tension hanging cable.
