About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
We present an iconic piece of postmodern design, the Lavinia table lamp, designed by Masayuki Kurokawa for Artemide in 1988. This fixture stands out for its sculptural form and ingenious functionality, reflecting Kurokawa's philosophical approach to design and architecture. The Lavinia lamp is an emblematic example of 1980s Italian design, combining bold aesthetics and lighting innovation.
The lamp's structure is made of metal with a textured lacquered finish. The conical base supports a large adjustable disc diffuser, which allows the light to be directed and different atmospheres to be created. The light source is positioned under the disc, projecting indirect and diffused illumination that enhances the surrounding space. The color is an elegant off-white or cream, which adapts versatilely to multiple furnishing contexts.
This example is in excellent vintage condition, with its original finish and fully intact structure. The piece retains its authentic character, testifying to Artemide's construction quality and its designer's timeless vision. The manufacturer's mark is visible and legible on the base, confirming its authenticity.
Thanks to its distinctive design and ambient light, the Lavinia lamp is ideal for a side table, a desk, or a credenza in a living room or study. It integrates perfectly into modern, minimalist, or eclectic style interiors, adding a touch of design history and sculptural refinement.
