Lalique crystal creations originated from the vision of René Lalique, a French jeweler and glassmaker. Throughout his career, he collaborated with several important brands, such as Cartier and Boucheron, but his first true explorations into glass occurred in 1890 when he created elements for jewelry, also studying enameling and engraving techniques. In 1921, he founded his glassworks in Alsace, which remains the only Lalique factory in the world to this day. In the mid-1920s, the advent of Art Déco marked the pinnacle of his career, during which, thanks also to his techniques, he created a style expressed through the contrast between transparent and opaque glass. The crystal pieces feature designs inspired by three themes dear to René: women, flora, and fauna. The company he founded continues its long tradition, still dealing today with jewelry, perfumes, interior decoration, and artistic glass creations. It remains today a symbolic expression of French luxury, renowned for the splendor of its jewelry, the wonder of its transparency, and the brilliance of its crystal.
