This is an authentic Kuchi necklace, a traditional piece of jewelry originating from the nomadic Kuchi tribes of Afghanistan. The piece is characterized by its rich combination of materials and the imposing central pendant, which reflects the cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the region. The necklace is made up of multiple strands, adorned with a diversity of beads. We see deep blue stones, possibly lapis lazuli, antique glass beads in green and yellow hues, and flat, organic shell discs. The large, teardrop-shaped pendant is crafted from silver-colored metal and is detailed with chased patterns and a central, red-colored stone. Small, movable coins are attached to the pendant. This piece of jewelry is in good, vintage condition, consistent with its age and traditional use. The patina on the metal and the natural irregularities of the beads and shells contribute to the unique and lived-in character of the piece. The original construction and clasp are intact. Coin silver: Tribal artisans often melted down old coins. This silver content is usually around 60% to 80%. This is much more valuable than base metal. As a powerful statement piece, this necklace can be worn or used as a Decoration object in an interior with a Bohemian or eclectic style.
