Product description
This is a rare edition of the memoirs of Marie-Thérèse Charlotte de France, the eldest daughter of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette. The work offers an intimate and direct testimony of the French royal family's captivity during the French Revolution, reproduced from the original manuscript.
Published in 1923 by Éditions Historiques in Paris, this book is a facsimile reproduction of the handwritten original. The edition was limited to only five hundred numbered copies, making each copy a special collector's item. It contains various illustrations, including a reproduction of a miniature portrait of the royal family and a cockade made by Queen Marie-Antoinette. The publication was authorized by Jaime de Bourbon, Duke of Madrid.
The book is in a condition consistent with its age of a century. The paper has developed an authentic, aged patina that contributes to its historical character. The original binding and pages have been preserved, ensuring the text and illustrations are fully legible and intact.
This work is a valuable addition to the library of any serious bibliophile or lover of French history. It not only offers a poignant historical account but is also a beautiful example of early twentieth-century book printing.
