Kokeshi craft is a centuries-old Japanese tradition.
It began around 1800 as a simple doll for every child. Each province in Japan has its own shape and/or painting.
These hand-turned traditional Kokeshi date from around 1960-1970 and are signed on the bottom by the maker. In excellent condition considering their age.
The dimensions, from largest to smallest, are:
• 24 cm
• 22.5 cm
• 19 cm
• 18 cm
• 12 cm
• 12 cm
In beautiful vintage condition considering their age. The paint has naturally faded somewhat over the years, and the wood has some scratches or dents here and there. Which, in my opinion, only adds to their charm.
