About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
The Knut Hesterberg coffee table in brass with smoked glass effortlessly transports you back to the refined design sensibility of the 1970s, where form and function converge in an almost sculptural elegance. Designed for Ronald Schmitt, this piece exudes the confident luxury of German modernism, with a playful lightness that feels surprisingly timeless. This Knut Hesterberg coffee table in brass with smoked glass is an iconic example of German design from the 1970s.
The round table rests on a graceful base of brass-finished aluminium, constructed from three fluidly interlocking rings. The interplay of lines is soft and powerful at the same time—a visual rhythm that continues to captivate from every angle. The smoked glass top appears to almost float above the base, creating a subtle interplay of transparency and reflection. This composition feels airy yet simultaneously possesses a distinct presence in the room.
The table is in beautiful vintage condition. The glass has a tiny chip on the edge, barely visible, and the brass shows light signs of wear consistent with its age. It is precisely that soft patina that gives the whole piece character and authenticity.
A table like this is not an afterthought, but a centerpiece—a subtle eye-catcher that lends every room a certain allure.
