Kees Salentijn (Amsterdam 1947) was educated at the Amsterdam State Academy of Visual Arts and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. He lives and works in Amsterdam. Salentine's first works are classified under his 'Spanish period' and are characterized by bullfights - representing Salentine's emotional life - rendered in mixed media. In his 'black period', in the mid-1980s, the battle that Salentijn feels while making each painting is central. In 1986 Salentijn develops a painting that he himself calls Mediterraneanism. The visual language of this art, characterized by a dominance of the sun and colors, arises from music and nostalgic feelings. From 1990 the convergence of figuration and abstraction changes to a more expressive, narrative figuration. The work is special because it was made in small editions. This is number 6 of 10 copies. Signed and numbered by the artist. You can pick up the work in Gorinchem or have it delivered.
