Product description
Expressive ceramic vessel sculpture by Dresden artist Katharina Eichler. The object combines archaic-looking vessel forms with a clear, almost graphically modernist design, giving it a particularly strong sculptural presence.
The flat, organically curved form is built up in various earth and natural tones. Brown, sand, and black are separated by precisely placed lines. On the front, a striking black meander or labyrinth motif forms the design's focal point.
Characteristic of Eichler's work is the use of the Nerikomi technique, in which different colored clays are combined to create a multicolored ceramic structure. The design thus emerges from the material itself and not merely through subsequently applied painting. The grainy, matte, and haptically very lively surface emphasizes the artisanal-sculptural character.
The narrow silhouette and the slightly asymmetrical, organic structure change their effect depending on the viewing angle. Particularly beautiful is the contrast between the light central zone and the dark brown parts on the neck and base. The dark rim adds an additional graphic accent.
Condition
Good used condition with visible irregularities consistent with its handcrafted character. On the light front side, individual darker spots or signs of wear are visible.
An exceptional piece of contemporary German ceramic art with a strong collector's and object character.
