This is a solid oak English George II / early George III Chest-on-Chest or tallboy from the mid-18th century (approx. 1740-1760). The furniture consists of two parts, making it easy to transport.
Hand-sawn dovetails, authentic brass fittings, and a top with a classic stylized dentil molding.
Over the centuries, some functional repairs have been made, including the internal mounting of the authentic handles for optimal daily use. There is a missing 'batwing' handle that was once replaced by 2 loose 'feet'. The chest of drawers is in very good sturdy condition with a beautiful aged patina. After 60 years in the family, we are selling it due to moving to a smaller home.
