Wood lithocut Judith Macrander (Amsterdam, 1971) trained at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. She lives and works in Amsterdam as a visual artist and is also a teacher. Since 1999, Macrander has worked as an independent visual artist with a strong emphasis on graphic work. In her work, people in all their layers are central. Judith Macrander shows that images can still be direct. Everything Judith Macrander does expresses intimacy. Much of her work is based on her own body. The prints are based on drawings, the drawings are based on photographs. Photos function as preliminary sketches and as a source. She considers some photos to be independent works. The work resulted in various nominations and prizes, including: the Royal Graphics Prize 2000 and the Dutch Graphics Prize 2001. Macrander has exhibited in the Haags Gemeentemuseum, the Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Singer museum Laren, among others. Her work is included in numerous collections including: the Rijksmuseum, Teylersmuseum Haarlem and corporate collections of, among others: De Baak, Ohra, Ernst & Young.Work is in excellent condition and beautifully framed
