Garst, J. Garst, Johannes Garst was born on June 11, 1950 in Beerzeveld. Since 1973, he has painted on both canvas and panel and focuses on portraits, surrealist and erotic art. From 1982 through 1988, he met with the Dutch surrealist J.H. Moesman (1992-1988) and corresponded with him regarding his work. Moesman advised him to continue on the path he had chosen in his painting. In the art-historical community of the Netherlands, he is also known as an adept of Moesman. He has participated in many group exhibitions and has also had a number of solo exhibitions throughout the country. His work has been purchased through the BKR, among others, and is held in private collectors' collections. His surrealist paintings and panels depict alienating situations involving symbolism, eroticism, confrontation, and humor. In particular, the earth tones used create a very special atmosphere, as if he is musically inspired and giving his own tone to the depicted scenes.
