This contemporary artwork, titled "To be or not", is a unique sculpture crafted by JLB. The design draws inspiration from the binary system, the foundation of modern computer technology, which translates into a powerful visual representation of the numbers one and zero.
The sculpture is constructed from fire-forged iron combined with artisan-cast Albertini glass. The glass, with a thickness of two centimeters, is mass-colored in bright yellow and blue hues and subsequently hand-cut for a textured finish. The wrought iron features a special coating that lends the object a subtle sheen and a deep black-brown color. It is a unique, signed piece from the year 2025, with dimensions of 28 centimeters in width, 17 centimeters in height, and 6 centimeters in depth.
The object is in excellent, as-new condition. The combination of the raw, dark metal and the translucent, colored glass creates a captivating contrast that emphasizes the layering of the artwork. The manual processing of the materials creates an authentic and tangible character.
This sculpture forms an intellectual and aesthetic focal point in a modern or eclectic interior. The work comes into its own particularly well on a minimalist console, a desk, or in a well-lit display cabinet, where the light can optimally accentuate the colors of the glass.
