Description

image size 40.5 x 50 frame size 63.5 x 75 list Yes technique Piezography list type 85 SZI orientation portrait size medium When one sees Jeroen Dercksen's work, one can hardly imagine that it was made by one and the same man. From flowers to portraits to abstract work, it's all part of his oeuvre. This artist devotes himself to his work with enormous precision and passion. His studio is situated on the outskirts of Amsterdam, in a rural environment. There he can devote himself to his work in peace. Striking in his choice of subject is that he elaborates his works in great detail. Dercksen is an artist who deals with his work very deliberately and concentrated. He wants to maintain and develop this concentration during his work. He regularly immerses himself in the various subfields by studying art history and other artists. He sees his art as a continuous development process in which there is much to discover. A good knowledge and skill in drawing forms the basis for his work and he considers it indispensable. He considers practicing techniques as a form of sport. As a material he uses acrylic paints, layer upon layer, with colored underpaintings. He also examines how various layers and colors contrast or interact with each other. His flowers and abstract works in particular are characterized by bright colours. Portraits, on the other hand, are a bit more sober in color but reflect the character of the person portrayed. His work is also internationally known. He has carried out a number of assignments for Embassies for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Affairs at Binnenhof 19. His portraiture is often commissioned by private individuals. A fascinating artist who is constantly on a journey of discovery!
