Upcycled Jasba Vase Lamp as a Small Table Lamp: A compact West German Pottery vase lamp by Jasba, where the shape of the ceramic and the graphic pattern of the shade seem almost made for each other. The small, square Jasba vase dates from the West German Pottery period. With its vibrant red glaze, dark edges, and clear, geometric form, it has a distinctly modern character. The interplay between the cubic lower body of the vase and the slightly wider, also square, upper section is particularly striking. Despite its small size, this gives the ceramic piece a very sculptural quality. For the Cityscape Collection, I combined the vase with a cylindrical lampshade covered in a colorful fabric with an urban design. Densely packed skyscrapers in pink, petrol blue, yellow, orange, and green form an abstract cityscape. The architecture of the fabric echoes the angular geometry of the Jasba ceramic, while the intense red of the vase reappears in individual buildings within the pattern. This very dialogue between German ceramic design of the 1960s and 70s and contemporary, international textile design is the idea behind the Cityscape Collection: vintage ceramics, once considered German design products, are now given a new look through fabrics from around the world. I converted the vase into a lamp without drilling any holes. The ceramic remains completely intact, and the conversion can be reversed at any time – the vintage object becomes a new table lamp without altering its original substance. The lamp is cordless and can therefore be placed anywhere light is needed, independent of a power outlet: on a sideboard, bedside table, or dining table, on a shelf, or in summer, on a balcony or patio. The rechargeable LED light source is charged via USB-C and can be conveniently controlled with a remote. Dimensions: Overall height: 32 cm; Jasba vase: 10 cm high; Vase width/depth: 8 × 8 cm; Lampshade: Ø 20 cm × H 19 cm. A small, unique cityscape with a big impact: original Jasba ceramic, vibrant red, clear 70s geometry, and above it all, an entire city made of color.
