Estimated value: €420 – €600 (set of 3) This set of three antique Japanese Satsuma vases is richly hand-painted with depictions of geishas in traditional kimonos. Elegant female figures are depicted on the vases, meticulously detailed and placed in refined landscapes with architectural elements, trees, and floral motifs. The scenes show geishas in tranquil moments of cultural and social life, a classic theme within Japanese decorative art of the Meiji period. The vases are made of traditional Satsuma earthenware with a warm ivory-colored ground and a fine crackle glaze, typical of this type of ceramics.
