Product description
Oil painting by the Utrecht artist Jan Tinholt (1950). His works fall under naive painting. Humour, wonder and melancholy, these are the keywords in the work of the Utrecht painter Jan Tinholt.
Starting out as a naive Sunday painter, he has developed into a contemporary surrealist with a very personal handwriting.
The scenes that bubble up directly from his subconscious would be difficult to portray in an impressionistic or expressionistic style.
The genre pieces in which the fantasy stories take place are presented in too orderly fashion for that. It is also the way in which he controls his exuberant fantasy.
By strictly framing it in improbably neat landscapes with neat lawns and trimmed trees. He also depicts the dreamed reality.
Landscapes with decors and wings of trees in which pleasantly disturbed figures reside.
These figures usually indulge in seemingly aimless pursuits that they perform with complete seriousness.
