Artist: Jan Poortenaar Title: View of the Martini Tower, Groningen Technique: etching on paper Period: ca. 1930–1950 Description Atmospheric etching by the Dutch graphic artist Jan Poortenaar featuring a city view in which the iconic Martini Tower of Groningen takes center stage. In the foreground, characteristic pollard willows and a low wall are depicted, while behind the wall, buildings surrounding the church are visible. The etching is executed in a loose yet highly detailed linework characteristic of Poortenaar's graphic work. His etchings often depict Dutch city and village views where architecture and landscape merge. Below the image is the designation “Mei nr 69 – VI”, possibly referring to a series or catalogue number. The etching is signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right corner. The work is framed with a passe-partout in a wooden frame.
