Description
Atmospheric etching by the Dutch graphic artist Jan Poortenaar depicting a rural village scene. In the foreground, a sandy road can be seen leading past a farmhouse and fencing towards a church tower in the distance. Trees and low vegetation flank the landscape, reinforcing the character of a typical Dutch countryside scene.
The etching is executed in a loose yet refined linework characteristic of Poortenaar's work. His graphic work often depicts Dutch landscapes and village scenes in which architecture and nature come together harmoniously.
Below the image is the inscription “No 4”, likely a reference to a sheet from a series. The work is signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right corner.
