A great Dutch Master Artist who sadly lived to be only 31 years old. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises approximately 150 paintings, mostly in small format, about 100 drawings, and more than 40 prints, mainly etchings and woodcuts. Jan Mankes went down in art history as "Holland's most serene painter". He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making surrounding his artistry.
