Product description
Jan Knikker (1889–1957) – Romantic River View with Shipping | Masterful Oil Painting in Heavy Baroque FrameDescription:A beautiful and atmospheric oil painting by the renowned Dutch artist Jan Knikker (1889–1957). Knikker belongs to the esteemed generation of artists who uniquely captured Dutch landscapes and waterscapes in an impressionistic manner. This work depicts an idyllic Dutch river scene with historic gables along the quay, traditional ships, and an imposing church tower in the background. The play of light on the water and the subtle color nuances attest to great craftsmanship. The painting is hand-signed by the artist (Jan Knikker) at the bottom left. Presentation & Framing: The artwork is set in a fantastic, heavy, gold-colored baroque frame with rich ornaments that gives the whole a museum-like and extremely chic appearance. The back shows the authentic stretcher and solid construction.
