The Luxo L1 is a design by Jac Jacobsen that he made based on a modified anglepoise design. Jacobsen designed this variation with a sophisticated auto-balancing system of springs, based on the constant tension principle of human limbs. Jacobsen subsequently renamed him Luxo L-1. Luxo is Latin for 'I give light'. The L-1 quickly became known as a true productivity booster in schools, offices, industrial plants and healthcare. This lamp comes from the latter branch and has been given a base from the factory with the option to connect further equipment. This lamp from the mid 1970s is in very good vintage condition with only superficial signs of use and discoloration on the inside of the shade. Also nice is the mention of the patent number on the lamp. Furnip has provided this lamp with new wiring, foot switch and plug. Room for a true classic?
