Painting by Ilona Haaksman from 2004:
I was born in Utrecht in 1951. From my earliest childhood, I have felt happiest when I am painting, drawing, or writing. As a result, I have built up years of experience. I work from my studio in Culemborg.
I usually paint on panel and in acrylic, but I paint and draw my book illustrations on paper. Sometimes I use other materials or printmaking. In my objects, "lucky charms," I add small ornaments, found objects, and relics. These enrich and support the narrative character of these special works. I draw my inspiration from my immediate surroundings, stories, events, and people. This is also how I work when executing a commission. In my new abstract work, I want to tell my story precisely by omitting painted information; Less is more.
The painting is in excellent condition.
The frame shows some discoloration due to the passage of time. Frame: WxH 90x115
Artwork itself: WxH 75x100
