Product description
A vintage Italian Modern folding director’s chair in dark stained wood and warm brown leather, produced in Italy during the late 20th century. Built around a classic folding X-frame, the chair combines a leather sling seat and backrest with rounded timber construction and brass hardware, giving it the relaxed yet refined character associated with Italian director’s chairs, campaign furniture and safari-inspired seating.

The chair is defined by its beautifully engineered folding construction. Rounded wooden rails form the arms, side supports and crossed base, while the leather seat hangs naturally between the frame to create a gently relaxed profile. A wide stitched leather backrest adds balance to the open construction, and small brass hinges, pivots and fittings provide a subtle contrast against the dark wood. When folded, the entire structure closes almost flat, revealing the functional logic behind the design. The aged leather and warm timber patina give the piece a particularly tactile, understated presence.
Condition
Good vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its period. The wooden frame shows light scratches, small marks and natural variations in the stained finish. The brown leather has developed a warm patina with surface marks, creasing, tonal variation and light wear, particularly across the sling seat. The brass fittings show age-related patina. The folding mechanism remains functional and the chair presents with the character expected of a well-used vintage piece.
