Product description
Italian chair from the 1990s combines influences of modernist tradition with the functional approach characteristic of late twentieth century design. The project stands out through its thoughtful balance between the soft, upholstered body of the seat and the geometric precision of the metal base, creating a form that is both elegant and practical.
The construction relies on a cantilever sled frame that provides stability without traditional legs. The seat and backrest form a unified, rounded shape, emphasized by horizontal stitching running across the entire upholstered surface. Armrests emerge from the side edges of the backrest and descend in a gentle curve, serving as a natural extension of the chair's body. Blue structural fabric contrasts with the silver finish of metal elements, giving the piece an expressive yet restrained character.
Italian design of the 1990s developed in the shadow of the great names from previous decades, searching for its own identity between postmodernist expression and a return to functional simplicity. Office and conference furniture manufacturers were developing forms that combined representational qualities with ergonomics suited for prolonged sitting. The sled base, popular during this period, responded to the needs of flexible spaces where chairs were frequently moved and grouped in various configurations.
The chair works well in executive offices, conference rooms, or reception areas. Seat dimensions ensure comfort during lengthy meetings, while armrests offer natural support for the arms. The sled construction facilitates easy movement across hard surfaces.
Condition is rated as good. Surfaces show minor scratches, small chips, and wear marks from use. Upholstery is original.
