Saxe porcelain has a long and demanding history. Since Meissen, founded in 1710, the region has seen a proliferation of manufactories that perpetuated this art of fire with remarkable constancy. This cup and saucer are an elegant testament to this. The fine, pure white porcelain features a lustrous, pearlescent enamel that makes the light dance in iridescent reflections, changing with the angle. A deep cobalt blue band encircles the cup, highlighted by a finely worked gilded frieze. The handle, enhanced with gold, completes the set with understated elegance. The saucer echoes the same decorative theme, with a frieze of small gilded leaves running along the pearlescent rim. The green crown mark on the reverse attests to the piece's Saxon origin, produced in the 1920s-1930s. The pearlescent luster is well-preserved, and the gilding shows the slight traces of use expected for a piece of this age. The photographs allow for a precise appreciation of its condition. A refined table piece, representative of the craftsmanship of Saxon manufactories from the interwar period.
