Beautiful original Siesta lounge chair with matching footstool, designed by the Norwegian designer Ingmar Relling in 1965. The Siesta has become one of the most famous Norwegian furniture designs from the Mid-Century period. Characteristic is the elegant curved wooden frame between which the seat seems to hang. As a result, the armchair not only has its characteristic light appearance but is also exceptionally comfortable. This particular piece is finished in brown/cognac-colored leather and dark stained curved wood. The leather cushions are tufted and are supported by the frame in a traditional manner. The matching footstool has the same construction and, together with the armchair, forms a beautiful complete set. The leather is in original vintage condition and has developed a beautiful, warm patina over the years. There are signs of wear consistent with age and use; please see the photos for details. It is precisely the weathered leather that gives this set a lot of character. A beautiful and very comfortable design classic that fits perfectly within a Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian, Brutalist, or 1970s interior. Designer: Ingmar Relling
