Vase Lamp – Scheurich Ceramics, Model 378 – West German Pottery, 1970s
This distinctive vase lamp was upcycled from an original Scheurich ceramic vase, Model 378, a typical example of West German Pottery from the 1970s.
The expressive fat lava flow glaze is particularly striking: deep violet meets vibrant orange, flowing in dynamic patterns across the body. This deliberately controlled glaze flow lends the vase a lively aesthetic – perfectly in keeping with the experimental ceramic design of the 1970s.
The powerful form with its narrow neck and side handle underscores the sculptural character of this piece. Even unlit, the vase makes a striking collector's item; as a lamp, it becomes a distinctive accent light for stylish interiors that blend vintage, mid-century, and modern styles.
The conversion to a lamp was carried out carefully and reversibly, without drilling, using a robust plug-in solution – the collector's value of the original remains fully intact.
