Imagination – Original Textile Artwork by V. Ninua
“The eyes are the mirror of the soul.” Imagination explores the idea that what we see is shaped by what we believe, feel and imagine. The eye becomes a reflection of an inner world, while the landscape within the composition suggests the boundary between reality and imagination.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original artwork created using V. Ninua’s self-developed textile technique. The composition is built by hand on canvas using braided jute rope and different textile fibres and threads. The materials are shaped, layered and individually applied to create the image, producing a richly textured and almost sculptural surface.
The different directions, thicknesses and structures of the fibres create depth, movement and variations in light that cannot be fully captured in photographs.
