A design by Verner Panton, model Vilbert Chair. Manufacturer: Ikea. This model was available for only a short time. In 1993 and 1994, Ikea produced 3000 Vilbert chairs, designed by Verner Panton (Denmark). This postmodern chair is made of four laminated MDF panels in different colors. Because sales were disappointing, this design item was removed from the shelves at the time and a large production run was destroyed. Consequently, this eye-catcher is now a rare piece and a 'must-have' for enthusiasts of postmodern design, Memphis Milano style, or Verner Panton!
The Vilbert Chair, designed by the renowned Danish designer Verner Panton for Ikea in 1993, is an iconic collector's item. This specific design embodies the playful and geometric aesthetic strongly reminiscent of the Memphis Milano style, making it a striking piece of design history.
The piece of furniture is crafted from sturdy MDF and consists of four angular panels ingeniously connected to one another. The chair is characterized by a vibrant, multicolored palette featuring areas of purple, blue, orange, and green. This construction and color choice reflect the postmodern design language of the early nineties. Originally produced in a limited edition, this model has since grown into a rare and sought-after object among modern design enthusiasts. The chair is in excellent condition, with the original finish and color vibrancy well preserved. The material displays the authentic character of a carefully preserved piece of furniture from this decade, without compromising on structural integrity.
This distinctive design acts as a sculptural element in a contemporary interior. The chair comes into its own particularly well as a standalone accent piece in a minimalist space or as part of an eclectic collection of postmodern art and furniture.
It will be carefully packed for shipping to prevent damage.
