The work can be abstract or figurative. The material can take on an aesthetic or symbolic meaning within the context of the entire work, while retaining something of its original identity. Her career began as a professional painter in 1988, and since then she has also become a gifted ceramist who is always experimenting with new materials and techniques. Nowadays, her sculptures are made of mosaic. Her style is strongly influenced by the Cobra movement, Miro, Haring, Picasso, and Mondrian. It is often a new interpretation of these. Her works are also exhibited domestically and internationally, and in her own gallery in Ronse (B). Each work is unique and usually signed within the work with MJ.
