Product description
Beautiful and special Johannes Andersson Ateljé ceramic lamp. Andersson (1899-1969) was one of the most important and influential Swedish ceramic designers in the 20th century. From 1924 until his death in 1969, he was the artistic director of the Andersson & Johansson factory (later Höganäs Keramik) in Höganäs, southern Sweden.
While Höganäs' regular factory production at the time focused on large editions and sleek utilitarian objects, this vase is a very special and rare art object from the exclusive Ateljé line. Ateljé pieces were entirely hand-thrown and glazed, making each piece unique or produced in a very limited edition. These studio objects were largely made by John Andersson himself and hand-signed. This vase is beautifully hand-marked on the bottom with his name and the series name 'Ateljé'. A beautiful collector's item for lovers of mid-century modern and Scandinavian studio ceramics!
