A toilet roll holder inspired by the metal clothes hangers you get at the dry cleaners. By bending the hangers differently like a paper clip can be bent, a toilet roll holder is created. Henk Stallinga graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1993 and founded Studio Stallinga that same year. The team of Studio Stallinga works on a wide variety of projects; from lighting and furniture to installations. The work strikes a balance between functionality and imagination. It invites the user or viewer to consider the industrial product from a different perspective. With a focus on associations, Stallinga combines material, form and technique to arrive at a new meaning of using the product. His work is included worldwide in the permanent collections of MoMA New York, Fonds National Art Contemporain Paris, Cooper Hewitt Museum New York, Louisiana Museum Copenhagen, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, among others.
