Product description
For sale is a profound, surrealist painting on canvas by the artist Hellmuth Eichner (born 1936 in Remscheid, died 2012).
The work dates from 1966 and is signed and dated (H. Eichner 66) in the lower right corner.
What makes this piece particularly interesting are the extensive inscriptions and gallery provenance on the back of the stretcher:
Gallery label: Galerie Gmurzynska (Cologne) with the title "Salome."
Handwritten title/dedication at the top: "St. John with his murderess in their final conversation. He faces a choice: fame or life."
Handwritten note on the left: "Look—here is my blind child, presented to you by Eichner on August 21, 1968, in Reifeld at 6:30 a.m."
