Product description
This is a vintage wall or ceiling lamp, designed by the Finnish glass designer Helena Tynell. The piece is an iconic example of her mid-20th century work, known for its organic and sculptural 'Bubble' or 'Pala' form. The lampshade is made of thick, amber-colored pressed glass, shaped into a cluster of spherical bubbles that emit a warm and diffused light. The base is made of a dark material, creating a solid contrast with the delicate glasswork. This design is characteristic of the Space Age and Mid-Century Modern style periods, where experimentation with form and material was central. The overall condition of the lamp is good, consistent with its age and use. The glasswork has retained its characteristic texture and color, contributing to the authentic vintage look of the object. The lamp is a testament to the craftsmanship of Glashütte Limburg, for which Tynell designed in the 1960s and 1970s. This lamp is suitable as an atmospheric accent in various interiors, from a hallway to a living room or bedroom. It functions both as a striking design object and a functional light source and fits well within a collection of Scandinavian or European design glass.
