Product description
This is an original artwork by the artist Philippe Paulus Jacobus Smeyers, titled "He-She". The work, created in 2004-2005, is a unique lavis drawing on rice paper, a technique that allows the artist to create subtle gradations in tone and shadow. The composition shows two anonymous, nude figures, one male and one female, suggesting a reflection on duality and gender.
The artwork is executed with ink on textured rice paper and is signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner. The drawing itself measures 25 x 20 cm. It is presented in a professional passe-partout with a total dimension of 50 x 40 cm. The monochrome color scheme, consisting of black, gray, and the off-white of the paper, emphasizes the form and volume of the figures.
The overall condition of the artwork is very good, retaining the original texture and clarity of the materials. As a unique piece, this work represents a specific moment in Smeyers' oeuvre. The work comes with the passe-partout, but without the frame shown in the photos.
Due to its intimate size and understated aesthetic, this drawing is suitable for various interior styles, from modern to classic. It would be a refined addition to an art collection, placed in a study, bedroom, or as part of a larger art wall.
