About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
A distinctive 1950s doctor’s desk by Hansen Berlin, combining authentic vintage character with a remarkably clean and timeless design.
The light beige metal drawer unit is contrasted by chrome handles, a metal-framed worktop and the open tubular-steel construction on the right. The result is a beautiful balance between solid, functional storage and a visually light frame – a characteristic 1950s look that works particularly well in contemporary interiors.
Hansen Berlin specialised in metal furniture for medical practices and professional environments. Designed for everyday use, pieces like this were built around functionality, durability and precise construction – an approach that also defines their aesthetic today.
This desk comes from the clearance of a medical practice in Berlin-Westend, where it was used in its original context.
The original Hansen badge is still partially preserved. The desk shows authentic signs of age and use, including fine scratches to the metal surfaces, wear to the edges and visible patina around the black base. These traces have deliberately been retained as part of the object’s history.
With a depth of only 50.5 cm, the desk is unusually compact and works equally well as a small writing desk, home-office desk, console or standalone vintage piece.
