Vanhorck studied at the Academy for Industrial Design Eindhoven. As a painter, however, he is self-taught.
From 1973 to 1993 Vanhorck worked in Amsterdam. He lives and works in Amersfoort today.
Vanhorck initially made figurative works, and has developed into an abstract painter of landscapes and figure representations. In his work, Vanhorck seeks a balance between expressive colors and figurative elements. He says he is looking for the language of the body, a language that should represent the combination of the visual (the figurative) and the emotional (the abstract). Layered painting gives the colors in his work a deep appearance.
