Product description
This is a hand-carved sculpture of the Egyptian god Anubis, made from soapstone. The work depicts the iconic figure with the head of a jackal, a representation deeply rooted in ancient Egyptian mythology and symbolism.
The sculpture is entirely carved from a single piece of dark green to brown mottled soapstone. Details such as the collar, loincloth, and hieroglyphs on the base are accentuated with white lines, creating a clear contrast with the dark stone. The seated posture and stylized design are characteristic of traditional Egyptian art.
This piece presumably dates from the second half of the 20th century (approx. 1970s) and is a beautiful handmade souvenir from Egypt, not modern mass production.
The overall condition of the sculpture is good, with a character that matches its age and material. The soapstone has a soft, matte finish inherent to the material. It is a unique, handmade object.
As is characteristic of this soft natural product, there is a fine, stable hairline crack on the side of the foot (see photo), which does not detract from its stability or decorative value. A beautiful object for lovers of Egyptian antiquity, vintage collectors, or as a unique statement in a study or interior.
