This liquor cabinet comes from North India, from the Kashmir region, and is entirely hand-carved. This is evident from the top, where the carving continues over the entire surface.
The wood is Kashmiri wood with the warm, fine grain and honey color strongly reminiscent of walnut. The cabinet most likely dates from the late 1960s.
Functionality of this liquor cabinet:
The top lid folds open to reveal a mirrored crown. The central panel drops forward to become a mirrored serving tray, with a pull-out rack behind it with recesses for glasses and bottles, finished with red velvet. The two curved side doors open to semi-circular shelves with bottle holders. Below are two spacious drawers. Closed, it is a compact, elegant semi-circular cabinet; open, it is a complete bar.
